First Round

1. QB – Trevor Lawrence, Clemson

This one should be a no brainer, especially after Lawrence declared for the 2021 NFL Draft earlier this past week. Even after a lopsided loss to Ohio State where QB Justin Fields, who is another contender for the top QB prospect in the upcoming draft, threw for 385 yards and a whopping 6 Tds, Lawrence still played a heck of a game with the cards stacked against him and a withering team around him. Without his offensive coordinator present to call plays, WR Joseph Ngata, and no seemingly no defense, Lawrence still flashed his incredible athletic ability and showed why this could be a franchise changing pick for the Jacksonville Jaguars, assuming that he is also willing to come down and play in the small market and sunshine state. Coming fresh off only his second loss in his entire three year college career, Trevor Lawrence is a proven winner, who has performed incredibly at every level of his career and exists as one of the most tantalizing prospects since QB Andrew Luck.

26. LT – Christian Darrisaw, Virginia Tech

Most likely out of range to select the likes of top TE prospect Kyle Pitts with their second first round pick, the Jaguars should seek to bolster their Offensive Line and protect their new quarterback of the future by selecting one of the top tackles in a deep draft for the position. Enter Virginia Tech offensive tackle Christian Darrisaw. Starting as a true freshman, Darrisaw has shown steady improvement over the last three seasons, developing into one of the most dominant blocker in the nation this past season. Darrisaw’s measurables and athletic ability make him a tantalizing prospect, as he should be able to come in and immediately replace Jaguars’ LT Cam Robinson, who is currently a free agent. His technical prowess and power at the point of attack should serve to upgrade the Jaguars pass protection, which struggled with consistency last season. While the run game was one of the lone bright spots behind RB James Robinson, both tackle positions struggled at times to set the edge and win in the trenches. With the team appearing to be invested in the future of RT Jawaan Taylor, finding a quality LT will be a priority in the draft or through free agency.

Second Round

33. CB – Jaycee Horn, South Carolina

The entire Jaguars defense recorded one of its poorest seasons in terms of points and yardage allowed and is obviously a major concern after a 1-15 overall record. While the Jaguars appear to have a few playmakers in the secondary, the unit dealt with a plethora of injuries this past season. The Jaguars invested one of their 2020 first round picks to select CB CJ Henderson, who flashed some potential before being put on IR after one game. CB Sidney Jones who also had some impressive performances before also ending up on IR, should be getting heavy consideration to be resigned, but beyond that the Jaguars lack solid depth. CB Jaycee Horn should be near the top of the Jaguars draft boards if he falls to the second round. A three year starter at South Carolina, Horn has all the physical traits to be a disruptive starting cornerback in the NFL. If he can continue developing as a tackler, and learn patience with jumping routes, the Jaguars would be lucky to have the first steal of the second round to improve a weary secondary.

46. DT – Marvin Wilson, Florida State

Speaking of steals, the Jaguars will be salivating at the opportunity to snag DT Marvin Wilson with their second pick in the second round, courtesy of their trade with the Vikings for ex-Jags DE Yannick Ngakoue. The days of the once feared Sacksonville are no more, as the Jaguars struggled mightily to generate a consistent level of pass rush and pressure on opposing quarterbacks in 2020. The team’s sack leader was DE Dawuane Smoot with 5.5 sacks and he is a pending free agent. With no other players on the team with more than 2.5 sacks and with several pourous showings against the run, Marvin Wilson will help batton down the trenches, possibly next to DT Davon Hamilton, who was one of the brightest spots of last year’s draft before going down with a knee injury that sent him to IR. Wilson has all of the physical tools to dominate at the next level with surprising mobility for his humongous 6’ 5” 311 pound frame. Wilson has grit and will sink his cleats down into the ground with an extra level of effort to always chase down the tackle and make a play. If he can develop more of a pass rushing repetoire, he could be a much needed anchor for this defensive line.

Third Round

65. S – Paris Ford, Pittsburgh

While the Jaguars secondary has a core group of developing young players who all recorded at least one interception this past season in Daniel Thomas, Josh Jones, Jarrod Wilson, and Andrew Wingard, the Jaguars still dealt with a large volume of injuries and some inconsistent play from the group at times. With each flashing their potential at different times, the Jaguars would still be wise to add some competition to the group and another player with Paris Ford’s measurables to the stable to develop. A Junior out of Pittsburgh, Ford displays an immensely physical and aggressive game. Incredibly athletic, he plays with enthusiasm that sometimes replaces his needed anticipation, resulting in unnecessary missed tackles. If Ford can develop more coverage skills and comfort playing in deeper zones, he can develop into a quality starter for the Jaguars.
